​Conyers is the only city in Rockdale County, Georgia, and is am Atlanta suburb. The city lies twenty-four miles east of Downtown Atlanta and is part of the Atlanta Metroplex.

​Conyers is the county seat of Rockdale County and is home to the Georgia International Horse Park. Originally the land was planned to be used to expand Rockdale County’s wastewater treatment system and other ideas that the City Manager and the City Council were trying to think of, but on September 18, 1990 it was decided Atlanta was going to be hosting the 1996 Summer Olympics. There was a change of plans and an equestrian task force formed to have the park developed under cooperation with the Atlanta Committee for the Olympic Games (ACOG). The Georgia International Horse Park became a reality when it was sanctioned by ACOG on October 21, 1991.
 
For the Netflix series Stranger Things, some of the outdoor scenes were filmed in the Georgia International Horse Park.
